Services
There are 3 distinct Services for Assistive Technology (SAT) at the Mackay Rehabilitation Centre that have been developed to answer needs of any client presenting with physical impairment whether they are registered at Mackay Rehabilitation Centre or not. Each service has a team of experts that work together with the client to identify his/her specific equipment or device needs and offer appropriate recommendations.
- Service for assistive technology: Communication
- Service for assistive technology: Seating, Environment and Mobility
- Service for assistive technology: Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Services for assistive technology are designed to respond rapidly to a client's request for technical aids or assistance to ensure maintenance of a level of autonomy that would otherwise be compromised due communication, mobility or hearing limitations. Services for assistive technology are available quickly by appointment only. Staff will receive clients on consultation with follow-up meeting to make the proper readjustments as needed.
Access to these services is direct, and does not go through the admission committee of the Mackay Rehabilitation Centre. However, a referral from a health professional is required.
