Service for Assistive
Technology: Deaf and
Hard of Hearing
This service is for those needing assistive devices, including:
- environmental control systems such as flashing lights for telephones or doorbells
- Text transmission devices such as telephone typewriters or closed captioning for television
- Sound transmission devices such as personal or telephone amplifiers
- Assistive listening devices to supplement hearing deficiency (recommendation of devices, installation and education on usage, repair and support)
Clientele:
- All ages
- Registered or not at the Mackay Rehabilitation Centre
- Clients with a sensorineural or persistent conductive hearing loss requiring assistive devices
- Validation of needs, consultation and technical follow-up
- Distribution of assistive listening devices and showroom
- Sale and repair of accessories
Required documents:
- Registration form
- Attestation of permanent hearing loss by an ENT
- Audiogram and recommendation as to the assistive devices needed (dated less than one year)
