Camp Massawippi
Camp Massawippi is an exceptional summer camp program specially adapted to the needs of the physically, hearing and visually impaired between the ages of six and thirty. Our camp is nestled among 19 picturesque acres by the shores of Lac Massawippi located in the Eastern Townships Region of Quebec. Montreal is only 90 minutes away and the U.S. State of Vermont is only 20 minutes away from out campsite.
With over 55 years of experience, Camp Massawippi offers physically impaired campers a safe and secure environment in which they can maximize their autonomy, acquire new skills and make new friends under the caring guidance of a highly qualified staff.
Our campers are lodged in fully heated cabins capable of accommodating eight to ten people. The cabins are spacious and comfortably appointed with washrooms and sinks (some with shower stalls); all are equipped with wheelchair ramps. Our extensive facilities also include game and recreation rooms, a large auditorium and a private beach.
Our dining hall serves a dietician-approved balanced menu, carefully prepared by a qualified kitchen staff. Special attention is paid to food allergies and dietary restrictions.
Our staff:
Camp Massawippi makes staffing one of its top priorities by recruiting people who are experienced, compassionate and caring. Our ratio is one counsellor for every two campers housed in our cabins. Our team of 50 skilled professionals includes lifeguards, group and activity counsellors and an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter.
A registered nurse is in on site at all times and is aided by three nursing students. Furthermore, Camp Massawippi has a fully equipped health hut and, in case of emergency, can count on the services of two modern hospitals located just 15 minutes away.
